Par cœur

The exhibition "Par cœur" [By Heart] presents a solo show by Swiss artist David Hominal at Mennour, 47 rue Saint-André-des-Arts. The exhibition features oil on canvas works created in 2026, all centered around the motif of the heart. This body of work continues Hominal's ongoing relationship with the gallery, focusing on a persistent fascination.

Central to the exhibition is a series of seven canvases displayed side-by-side. Each canvas depicts a large heart, with cropped sections appearing at the edges that align with adjacent canvases to form another complete heart. Hominal worked on these pieces simultaneously, creating a unified field that nonetheless allows each canvas to stand independently while hinting at a potential reunion. This structure imbues the image with a material role, connecting discrete elements rather than confining them to a single picture. The arrangement reflects the human tension between the desire for belonging and the need for autonomy. The series originated from an earlier project where Hominal adapted drawings, leading to the development of this larger-scale painting concept.
