LITURGIE DES JOURS
LITURGIE DES JOURS brings together the work of Ukrainian artists Sasha Kurmaz and Danylo Halkin. Kurmaz presents "Red Horse," a daily collage practice initiated at the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Comprising hundreds of individual collages made from found images, notes, and photographs layered on cardboard, the series serves as a "diary of life" documenting the conflict's impact on daily realities, from destruction to the endurance of the mundane.
Halkin's "Optical Prostheses" series engages with Ukraine's stained glass heritage, Soviet Modernism, and contemporary destruction. Working with salvaged stained glass from his native region, he transforms fragments into autonomous artworks. He also creates monochrome paintings based on destroyed stained glass, offering a fragile witnessing to the loss and survival of architectural heritage. The exhibition is presented in the gallery's central nave.
