Tacita Dean and Bruce Nauman
Marian Goodman Gallery Paris presents an exhibition featuring artists Tacita Dean and Bruce Nauman, focusing on their collaborative 35mm film diptych, Drawing Blind Drawing (2026). Dean, known for her work in drawing, printmaking, and film since the 1990s, and Nauman, an influential artist exploring the body, language, and performance since the 1960s, developed this project through conversations about drawing.
Inspired by Nauman's blind drawing experiments and Dean's use of masking in filmmaking, the artists explored collaborative drawing sessions. Dean filmed these sessions on 35mm, adapting experimental masking techniques to create the illusion of simultaneous drawing. The resulting film diptych, Drawing Blind Drawing, showcases their hands drawing on different surfaces, with one artist blindfolded and assisted by the other. The work highlights the artists' focus, the interplay between mind and gesture, and their shared interest in the unintended act and uncertainty in art.
