Glade / Clairière

Wolfgang Tillmans' exhibition "Glade / Clairière" at Galerie Chantal Crousel explores the artist's ongoing engagement with the concept of the line. This exhibition features works that examine how lines, whether deliberately drawn or organically appearing, shape our perception and construction of reality. Tillmans' practice, which spans photography, sculpture, and video, consistently questions the relationship between the analogue and digital, the collective and individual, and the representation of the world through detail.

The show includes a sculptural installation of industrial rope loops, photographic works from the "Lighter" series created with light-sensitive paper, and the video "Cité Shadows / Seine Turbulences." These diverse pieces highlight Tillmans' interest in the interplay between accident and control, representation and materiality, and the inherent tension between conscious production and emergent properties. The exhibition title itself, "Glade / Clairière," suggests a space illuminated by light, referencing both photography and landscape traditions.
